Our Board

Dear Reader,

I am in awe of everything that our dedicated staff, best-in-class pro bono partners, and incredible public and private sector institutional leaders have accomplished in this exceptional year, particularly through their collective mobilization to respond to the COVID-19 crisis and set our region on a path to an inclusive and equitable recovery. I hope you will read much more about that critical work throughout this report.

As I enter my fifth year as Civic Consulting Alliance’s Board Chair, I am filled with a great sense of pride as well as with excitement for all that lies ahead. Since I assumed my role in 2016, Civic Consulting Alliance more than doubled in the scope and scale of its impact, to a $4.7 million organization with a full-time staff of 31. Over those years, we have continued to at least triple the value of our staff through the incredible leverage provided by the generous commitments of our pro bono partners, many of whom are represented by the leaders on our Board and Leadership Council.

At this unprecedented moment of concurrent public health, social, and economic crises, I believe firmly in Civic Consulting Alliance’s potential to be part of the transformative change needed to rebuild our regional systems to be more just, resilient, and equitable in the future.

This means continuing the hard work that we have only just begun: to examine how we work, to build a more diverse Board and team, and to nurture a more inclusive organizational culture. We are grateful for everything that our longtime, outgoing CEO Brian Fabes did to establish a strong foundation of trust and credibility in the unique value of our model; we could not be in better hands than those of our new CEO and President Rebekah Scheinfeld to articulate and advance a compelling vision for how to lead Civic Consulting Alliance into this next phase of its journey.

I am grateful for and inspired by all of our Board members, staff, clients, pro bono, and philanthropic partners, who we collaborate with every day to make the Chicago region a great place for everyone to live in and work. I hope that you will read on and appreciate this incredible list of individuals and firms.

Thank you for your invaluable contributions that continue to make our work possible.

Sincerely,

Deborah L. DeHaas, Chair
Civic Consulting Alliance
